Healthcare in Scotland
In Scotland, your health is one of our top priorities. Everyone living in Scotland is entitled to free comprehensive healthcare and free prescriptions. When you move to Scotland you will need to register with a local General Practitioner at your local medical centre.
This includes:
- Free appointments and treatment from your local doctor.
- Free eye sight examinations.
- Dentists are subsidied as part of the NHS, which means it is available at a reduced cost, with the option for private bases for an additional fee.
- Prescriptions for general and recurring medications are free in Scotland.
- Hospital appointments, whether planned or in an emergency, are also free.
