Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)
A BRP is an identification document used to confirm your identity, right to study, and right to any public services or benefits you may be entitled to.
It includes information about:
- your name, date and place of birth
- your fingerprints and a photo of your face (this is your biometric information)
- your immigration status and any conditions of your stay
- whether you can access public funds, for example benefits and health services
You’ll be issued a BRP as a part of the visa, but you won’t be able to collect it until you have arrived in Scotland. You will receive an email from the Home
Office to let you know when your BRP is ready to collect and where to collect it from.
