Clarification on Golden Jubilee activity and waiting times

At NHS Golden Jubilee, our team works hard to treat as many patients as possible.

We understand that misinformation can cause unnecessary frustration, so as an organisation that values communications and honesty, we thought it would be helpful to provide our most up-to-date information on how we’re performing.

Activity

  • NHS Golden Jubilee carried out a total of 82,869 inpatient, day case and diagnostic procedures in 2023/2024. This will increase to over 100,000 by 31 March 2025.
  • Our planned care services carried out 2,626 procedures more in 2023/2024 compared to 2022/2023.
  • In 2 years we will increase our orthopaedic procedure numbers by 20%.
  • In 2 years we will increase our endoscopy procedures by 20%.

Cancellations

  • Our average Hospital cancellation rate from August to October 2024 was 3.3 per cent with an additional 2.3 per cent cancelled at the request of patients (total 5.6 per cent)*

Waiting Times

Following referral, our current average waiting times are:

  • 6 weeks for general surgery
  • 8 weeks for foot and ankle surgery
  • 10 weeks for cataract surgery
  • 13 weeks for hip and knee replacement surgery
