To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the NHS and mark 10 years of providing Heart and Lung Services at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, the Golden Jubilee is gearing up for one of its biggest events of the year.
The Clydebank-based NHS Board is holding a Gala Day on Sunday 2 September in the grounds of the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel from 1pm to 5pm and are hoping the local and wider community will get involved in this fun event.
A variety of attractions and activities to keep the family entertained is planned, kicking off with a parade involving local groups and NHS teams celebrating 70 Years of Healthcare.
Games and challenges; sports; children’s activities; bouncy castles and fairground rides, live entertainment and music; cake and jam competitions are all on offer - not forgetting the Jubilee Gaming Zone.
As for food there will be something for everybody’s taste buds from traditional barbeque to yummy street food.
On top of that we have lots of opportunities to win prizes from the raffle, quiz and tombola as well as the special Gold Star Prize Draw with tickets only available on the day. Some amazing prizes have been donated by our partners and supporters including trips to Alton Towers and several weekends away!
Local produce and handicraft stalls will be participating and tasty treats will be available to purchase. With lots of community stalls providing information and activities, a fantastic day out is guaranteed, whatever the weather.
Entry is free for all but charges will apply to some of the activities.
Our MC for the event is ‘The Greatest Showman,’ who’ll be keeping everybody up to date throughout the afternoon and introduce the live acts including special guest Princess Belle.
The aim of this fun-packed day is to say thank you to the local community and also to our Golden Jubilee staff for their hard work and dedication to caring for the people of Scotland.
Anne Marie Cavanagh, Nurse Director of the Golden Jubilee said: “The Gala Day is the perfect setting for everyone to get together and have fun and there is such a wide range of activities that there really will be something for everyone.
“We are determined to say a huge thank you to our patients and their families, our staff, and local friends and supporters.”
Bronagh Bell, Director of Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel and part of the Gala Day Organising Committee said: “The Gala Day officially kicks off at 1pm and we’re confident it’s going to be a fantastic day out for all the family.
“Let’s hope the weather plays its part too! But if it doesn’t we have a wet day plan and can move most of the activity inside. Rain or shine the Gala day will be a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon."
