Phase 1: Eye Centre

NHS Golden Jubilee’s new, state-of-the-art, Eye Centre began treating patients in November 2020 and is the most accessible healthcare facility in the UK.

It is Phase 1 of Scotland’s first National Treatment Centre and is also part of the planned expansion of the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital.

With the ability to carry out more than 18,000 cataract procedures every year, the facility includes 6 purpose-built twin theatres as well as integrated outpatient and diagnostic facilities.

Our Ophthalmology Unit has continued to expand over the years to treat more patients from all across the country and now carries out 25% of all cataract operations in NHSScotland.
