New Nurse Director for National Hospital

The Golden Jubilee National Hospital is proud to announce that it has appointed Anne Marie Cavanagh as its new Nurse Director.

 

Mrs Cavanagh was appointed following a rigorous two-day recruitment process which included competency based interviews, pyschometric testing and chairing a multi-disciplinary discussion. The hospital’s unique process for senior managers and clinicians allows interview panels to determine how well a candidate measures against key competencies such as patient focus, safety, leadership, teamwork, communication, quality, resilience and knowledge.

 

Speaking after her appointment, Anne Marie said: “Having worked as a nurse for almost 30 years, and with experience in senior roles, I feel well equipped to take on this position at this very exciting time.

 

“The Golden Jubilee is committed to developing new and innovative ways to ensure patients receive the highest possible standard of care, so I am really looking forward to helping enhance our already excellent services, which will ensure we continue to provide the safest and highest quality care for all of our patients.”

Mrs Cavanagh took up the Nurse Director post on 1 April 2015 and will be officially welcomed to the Board at its next meeting on Monday 11 May 2015.

 

Anne Marie Cavanagh – background

  • Qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1986 atGlasgow’s Western/Gartnavel Hospitals. Began her cardiothoracic nursing career in 1987 at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, specialising in critical care.
  • Moved into Nursing Management in 2003, as Clinical Nurse Manager at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, with further promotion within the Regional Services Directorate in NHS Greater Glasgow andClydein 2006.
  • Was appointed as Senior Nurse Manager at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in 2008 when heart and lung services transferred from Glasgow and Lanarkshire. Appointed as Head of Nursing in 2011 at the Golden Jubilee before taking on the role of Interim Nurse Director in June 2014.
  • Has an interest in quality improvement, education  and organisational governance as a route to enhancing patient care.
